Class 12 Recap

For today's final class I really enjoyed seeing every ones final project. I think it was a good assignment to end the class with. I also learned allot from others during this summer course that I will use in the future. To conclude it was a great class that I think every new media student should take in order to get in touch with their creative side and perhaps learn to see sideways when thinking of new ideas and directions.

Course Final Thoughts

In taking the course Seeing Sideways I must say it definitely earned its title. I found my favorite aspects of this class is not knowing what to expect. The classes were not predictable or solely ran by the teacher.I enjoyed and didn't enjoy being taken out of my comfort zone. I felt like this class was designed to further your creativity and open your mind to different thoughts. I do feel that I have gotten this from this class. I also enjoyed looking at other peoples projects and I did and didn't enjoy showing mines. What I like least about the class what sometimes I felt I really had to dig deep to figure out how I was going to go about a project. Example would be the bible dipping symbol for sound. That was challenging,but I felt I was able to show it the way I interpreted in my mind whether it was right or wrong. Although I noticed there was not allot of right or wrong answers in this class,which is good. To conclude I enjoyed having another one of your classes and looking at some of your creative work you have done because I am very interested in poetry and enjoy photo shop as well.

Class 11 Recap

During class yesterday we viewed videos that made you question what is real and what is not. I found this class to be interesting because it made me think about allot of stuff I use to think about. Such as are there really ghost? Which I believe there are. What other dimensions are out there? How much control does are body really have over our mind? I concluded that life is allot more complex then we may notice on a daily bases and to not be open to the possibilities will only stunt us in time. Also we talked about Toy story some. I thought it was a great movie,it was really intense because it finally showed when Andy grew up. It was a worry that the toys had that they had to face in Toy story 3. Anyhow sad but great movie.

Class 9 Recap

Yesterday in class we went over some of the projects we did with contrast. I particularly enjoyed that assignment once I understood what the teacher was looking for. We also viewed a students poster that I found to be very interesting and creative. We conclude on going to the art museum and watching Toy Story 3 instead of class Wednesday,which I think is a great trade off.

I choose Todd’s egg project as my favorite project. I choose it because it made me think of the movie the Diary of Anne Frank and the whole holocaust scene. I felt that the music and the black and white colors allowed me to go back in time. The one egg looking as though it was targeted and later being shot in the end gave me an eerie feeling of what it might have been like to be a victim of the holocaust.

Contrast





I and my partner picked up a variety of items found in nature that contrasted with each other. So the final result was a bouquet of contrast,which displayed a dark petal that contrasted with a light petal. There was also a dead piece of a bush that contrasted with an alive bush that represented the contrast of death and life. Along with those items we found contrast with a smooth stem and a stick that represented the contrast between texture. From this I was inspired to narrow down my multiple contrasting items to one final image that I decided to photo shop and add some extra texture and contrast to.I found by doing this it was a good representation of allot of the different contrast I found all in one. This image represents contrast between dead and alive with one flower being alive amongst the dead ones. Contrast between color is another one,with the flower standing out with a bright color tone from the dull more faded color. I also felt that this image represented texture. The petals on the the flower are smooth and soft while the dead petals are rough and dry along with the overall back ground contrasting in its smooth and rough texture.. In this image I was able to tie my multiple contrast into once collaborating photo.

Class 8 Recap

During class today we discussed our final project by the name of bingo. We are basically going to be using someone else's work as inspiration for a project. Then we will be narrowing a list down to five questions in which the class is going to have to guess which question from the list we are referring to. We also did an exercise on contrast. We had an hour 1/2 to gather items and create something that gave contrast. Me and my partner ended up gathering several things that had contrast for inspiration.

Class 7 Recap

In reviewing what others did for their Reality and Fear assignment I found a few of them including my own interesting,but overall they were all good. One titled My reality drew my attention because he reminded me of myself with his interpretation of his reality,which he stated was a culmination of what he sensed and what he didn't sense. I agree with him that each and ever person's reality can be made up of what the perceive. Another student that caught my attention stated that reality only sets in when something major happens. That makes sense to me because I too kind of go through each day like the one before until something drastic happens and I start to think about reality very seriously. The next thing we were to look into was fear, what was the thing we feared the most. For me I stated that I or one of my family members getting into a fatal car wreck. I feel that driving is something we have to do allot and so the res no way to avoid the risk. Some other students said being alone, graduating, deep oceans, spiders. He mentioned things I would not have thought of right off,but can agree with all of them actually. When you really think about it there are allot of fears we have that prevent us from enjoying or doing the things we truly want to do at times in life.

Class 6 Recap

During Wednesdays class we went over every ones symbol for sound assignment. Allot of people did videos that interpreted their view of symbol for sound. One example was a number video in which he wrote out numbers while having some one in the background say each number kind of like the count on Sesames Street. One that was interesting was a Fluoride video where the student remixed Run Dmc's song. Still another student had a universe type interpretation of a symbol for sound.Also a student made up new codes for playing golf. I found the videos we watched towards the end of class to be very unique and creative. It gave me all types of ideas for future projects.
